Paul Harvey

Broadcast pioneer and true gentleman, Paul Harvey died at the age of 90 today. Harvey’s “The Rest of the Story” made him a modern day Mark Twain of sorts. His 11:45am-12:00pm daily time slot will be filled by his son, however, he will never be replaced.

Sen. Clinton Experience Exaggeration Exposed

While the premise for Sen. Obama’s campaign, that judgment is more important than experience, has been brought into serious question recently; Sen. Clinton’s “experience” argument continues to fall apart. Last week, Clinton spoke of a harrowing Bosnia episode which included her dodging bullets and barely surviving an airport attack, but a new CBS News report calls her account into question.

Intellectual Honesty [cont'd]

Picking up on the point I made below, the Democrats, evidently unable to go toe to toe with John McCain’s actual positions on issues, have confirmed their attack on his “100 years” comment as a key part of their strategy against him. (Politico)

I hope the blogosphere, talk radio and intellectually honest pundits will hold the elite tabloid press to the fire on this one.

This “strategy” is nothing less than flagrant deception, attempting to scare those who aren’t following politics closely – particularly young people and busy working folks. When a Democrat throws out something like, “Well, John McCain wants the war to continue for 100 years” and the news anchors and analysts don’t call them on it, casual viewers assume the statement to be accurate.

The Democrats wouldn’t dare employ this desperate (and pathetic) strategy if they didn’t think they could count on a free pass from the press.

Let’s not let them get away with this kind of outright lying this year.

Barack Obama: “Typical White People” = racist bigots?

Barack Obama, asked by a Philadelphia radio station (610 WIP-am) this morning to clarify the comments he had made about his white grandmother during his “Race Speech” a couple of days ago (during which he threw her under the bus–telling an international audience of millions that she had made bigoted comments, engaged in racial stereotypes and was afraid of black men on the street,) responded:

“the point i was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity, shoe doesn’t, but she is a typical white person who, you know, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn’t know, you know, there’s a reaction that’s been bred into our experiences that don’t go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way.”

Y’know, when a guy spends 20 years as a member of Jeremiah Wright’s church, subjected to his brand of vitriolic hate speech, I guess we shouldn’t be too surprised at his idea of a “typical white person.”

I can’t help but be concerned at how this perspective would inform a Barack Obama presidency.

Quick Question

Topic: Intellectual Honesty

Do the Leftist stooges all over the TV who talk about John McCain’s “plan to keep the Iraq war going for 100 years” know that they’re being completely disingenuous (read: lying through their teeth) or are they just blindly regurgitating the Democrat talking points?

TICKS ME OFF!

It aggravates me when Democrat surrogates refer to McCain’s 100 year Iraq strategy, but even worse are the journalists who allow it to go unchecked. These operatives, and their media enablers know that a good portion of the electorate are uninformed and/or barely paying attention. They hope to shift public opinion by dishonestly leading these people to believe that John McCain plans on fighting a full scale war in Iraq for the next 100 years.

McCain, of course, was talking about some level of troops remaining in Iraq – long after the fighting has stopped. It is in our strategic interest to have a base in Iraq, just as we have bases in Germany, Japan and South Korea 30-60 years after the fight stopped in those wars.

Moral of the story: Democrats will lie and deceive if it suits their purposes.

Amazing

The predictions of gloom, doom and impending disaster at the hands of Global Warming have all been based on the computer models of what some scientists believe could happen under the right circumstances.

In 2003, actual scientific instruments were placed throughout the world’s oceans to take actual scientific measurements and make actual scientific determinations. The problem is, the 3000 robotic instruments are reporting back the good news that the oceans are not warming, as predicted, and are actually reporting an insignificant (read: not dangerous) amount of cooling.

Wait a second. I said, “the problem is” – but why is this a problem? Got me–again, it sounds like great news to us. But to the true believers at Global Warming Scaremonger Central, this is not a positive development. It’s a major problem. Unlike the world the rest of us live in, which is evidently doing just fine, the world they occupy actually is falling apart at the seams.

The fact that their actual real world tests, conducted with that real-life scientific equipment I mentioned, are producing actual scientific data in direct contradiction with their predictions has these scientists in full blown tizzies. After all, they’ve staked their futures on outrageous proclamations they’ve made based on their computer models that they just knew were right. This actual, real world data cannot possibly be more accurate than their projections dammit! (I think they’ve forgotten the basic computer programming principle of Garbage In/Garbage Out.)

This National Public Radio article on the subject provides a great illustration of the tortured logic and hilarious intellectual goose chase the Global Warming Pending Doomsday Scenario peddlers will engage in to try to explain away what is obvious to even the most casual observer. Funny stuff…albeit infuriating.

Journalistic Bias

Here we go again…

The elite tabloid press is gushing about the Obama “Race Speech”…

Sally Quinn from the Washington Post, commenting on MSNBC moments after the speech said, “I thought that it was particularly courageous of [Barack] not to repudiate Jeremiah Wright…”

Would she find it courageous if this were Jerry Falwell or John Hagee and a Republican candidate?

Barack’s “Race Speech”

The shimmer has vanished. The soaring oratory, now more pedestrian. The moral high ground gone. The hopes of untold riches, shattered by the realization that what you’ve just pulled from the sifter is merely fool’s gold.

Cynics might say Barack Obama, cornered, his approval ratings having dropped 6 points in 3 days, only now raising his hand to say, “Wait, wait, I’m half-white too!” “I’m not a scary, radical, racist white-hater…” “I’m one of you…” Then proceeds to throw his own grandmother under the bus for her own racial offenses.

I think it’s over.

Quick Question:

Topic: Hillary Clinton’s “experience”

Would you trust a Brain surgeon’s wife to operate on you simply because she has seen and heard about her husbands work for so many years?

Just sayin’…
